內(nèi)容簡介:When vicious, dog-headed gnolls kidnap everyone living in the small village of Hesiod, only Evin and his fighter friend Jorick manage to escape. With help from an ancient guidebook of magical beasts called A Practical Guide to Monsters, the two boys and a new friend—elf wizard Betilivatis—must trek through ancient ruins and face one menacing monster after another in order save their families.
But Evin soon realizes that not everything is as it seems. Someone—or something—has taken leadership of the gnolls and has dangerous plans for the kidnapped villagers. Betilivatis often disappears mysteriously and has strange conversations with someone only she can see. And Evin is having unusual dreams of a place he's never been, a place that feels more and more real with each passing day.
The pace never falters in this page-turning adventure, as Evin, Jorick, and Betilivatis bravely battle gnolls, a chimera, an ormyrr, and a lich, and it ends with a shocking twist that will make readers want to start the story all over again.
作者簡介:I am Jeff Sampson, author of novels and series books for young adults. I'm a big fan of all things geeky and genre, so my stories usually involve the already dramatic lives of teenagers as they come of age in worlds populated with dragons and wizards, werewolves and other dimensional beings, demons and magic.I started writing professionally at age 18, working with Scholastic on various web writing projects before ghost-outlining some books in a sci-fi series called Remnants, created by Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant and published under the name K.A. Applegate. I soon found my way to the Mirrorstone Books imprint of Wizards of the Coast, and my first book -- Dragon Spell -- was published just as I turned 23. I've had a total of five books published within the Dragonlance: The New Adventures series, including my own trilogy. I also acted as a consultant for the NYT Bestselling A Practical Guide to Dragons and have written introductions for its offshoot series, The Dragon Codices.
