內(nèi)容簡介:    該《北京古地圖集》是從國家圖書館地圖專藏和書型古籍中遴選出的59種113幅有關北京的中外古舊地圖，按成書（圖）的時間先后編排而成，旨在通過展現(xiàn)古代北京在全國的空間位置、所屬所管沿革，尤其是通過展示北京城市的空間布局、市政建設等發(fā)展變化，勾勒出北京城市的空間發(fā)展軌跡，并通過文字介紹相關背景，解讀這些古舊地圖背后的歷史，為全方位了解北京城市發(fā)展提供豐富的信息。
    從本圖集收錄的幾種宋元時期成圖的地圖中，如《歷代地理指掌圖》、《禹跡?》、《華夷圖》等，我們可以清楚看到北京從遠古時期的薊城到遼代的燕京、南京，再到金人的中都、元代的大都的歷史沿革。豐富的明清時期及民國時期的地圖則更加清晰地揭示了北京在“北平”、“北京”、“北京特別市”等名稱變化中所折射出的地位變化。北京曾經(jīng)的所轄所屬也在“腹里圖”、“北直隸圖”等圖及相關地名標識中得以體現(xiàn)。
    從上個世紀九十年代開始，國內(nèi)已經(jīng)陸續(xù)出版了《中國古代地圖集》三卷本、《中國古代地圖集》城市地圖卷、《中華古地圖珍品集》等若干部古地圖圖集。與同類地圖集相比，雖然有些地圖已經(jīng)被收入出版，但《北京古地圖集》所選地圖 集中于北京城，就一個城市的地圖來說，無論數(shù)量、形式和內(nèi)容的豐富性，其它圖集都不能堪比，《北京古地圖集》選入一些外國人繪制的北京地圖，也是以往中國古地圖集從未有過的特點，可以通過中外地圖的對比來啟發(fā)讀者的思考；而且地圖的文字說明采用中英文對照，更符合現(xiàn)代中國出版物推向國際，有利于促進中外地圖學史領域的文化交流。
